Social Investment Scotland;

Social Investment Scotland (SIS) is a charity and social enterprise that makes investments in charities, social enterprises and mission-led businesses. Using funding from a variety of sources, SIS provides a range of tailored financial and non-financial support to support the development of sustainable social and/or environmental impact.

SIS strive for an Impact Economy; where social entrepreneurs, businesses, consumers, investors and government are aligned and focused on delivering impactful actions and meaningful outcomes.

Since 2001, the organisation has made investments of over £100m. Alongside the provision of financial investment, a key role for SIS is to build the capacity and capability of organisations via the provision of information, education and support.

Over the last few years, SIS has grown considerably, developing relationships with a range of partners and new investors. SIS has taken a leading role in the wider development of the sector in Scotland, helping to co-produce the Scottish Government’s ten-year vision for social enterprise in Scotland and is a key partner in delivering some of the outlined priorities. The partnership approach to running the organisation is crucial to its success exemplified also by SIS’s ongoing relationship with a range of key partners including Big Society Capital.
